Kierstin DeWest

CEO, Co-Founder

Ci

Kierstin is the key strategic mind at Ci and has been developing brand and communications strategies based on consumer, cultural and marketplace insight for the last 14 years. She has significant expertise on the relationship between consumers and sustainability, and what this means for brands. In 2003 she co-founded Ci, a leading sustainability marketing consultancy and think tank that works with thought leader brands such as Adidas, Novex Courier, UBC Office of Sustainability, World Changing, Nike Inc, KEEN Footwear, Ethical Funds and Global Television. Ci also acts as the in-house sustainability marketing advisors to leading ad agencies including Lowe Worldwide, GSD&M, Droga 5 and Publicis.

With a keen interest in culture, consumers and their marketplace, Kierstin saw early on in 2000 that all indicators were pointing to a significant cultural shift – where consumers were making lifestyle and purchasing decisions based on a set of predefined values: integrity and social responsibility. She is the creator of Ci’s SHIFT Report™ that has informed opportunities from keynote speeches at Davos World Economic Forum and content development for TV to storytelling strategies for leading brands.

Prior to launching Ci, Kierstin worked as an account planner and brand strategist at advertising agencies including DDB New York, Kirshenbaum Bond and Mad Dogs & Englishmen. She has worked on the client side of the business at About.com and helped lead the successful repositioning of the company to prepare it for acquisition by Primedia.

Kierstin speaks regularly on consumers and sustainability, as well as the benefits of responsible business and marketing including: the inaugural UNEP/ESOMAR conference on Responsible Marketing, Social Venture Institute, BALLE, Net Impact, AIGA’s GAIN conference, American Marketing Association, various business schools.  Her thinking on consumers and sustainability is published in various places including Global Television, City Television, World Changing, PSFK, Dose, Influx Insights, Business in Vancouver, The Vancouver Sun, Environmental Leader, Sustainable Life Media and others. Kierstin currently hosts a weekly sustainability segment on Global TV, the highest rated network morning news show in British Columbia and has a sustainability lifestyle TV series in development.
